We are writing to strongly oppose the renaming of Simcoe North to a proposed Penetanguishene-Couchiching. Removing the name Simcoe is both geographically baffling and an insult to the original homage to the Simcoe Name.
As an indigenous person, I also am disappointed that such changes are made without meaningful dialogue with affected stakeholders, including indigenous persons in Simcoe North.
I hope that enough people comment on this and will cause the present name of Simcoe North to remain in place.
